So, here we are - our first ever compilation album is now unleashed. FUTURE IMPERFECT has been a long and complicated process, and an undoubted labour of love.
Several months ago we decided that we wanted to release a body of work to reflect our first four years as a label, but rather than a bunch of straight up club bangers which many people know us for, or just a collection of what has gone before in our back catalogue, we wanted to do something a little different.

So we decided to take tracks from the back catalogue - significant releases for various reasons - and give them to various members of the Hottwerk family (and it's extended Arcade Pony brethren, as well as friends of the label) to remix. We also included a few new tracks untouched by remixing hands by Little Penguin and Spatial Awareness, as sentinels of what is to come....

Recognisable names such as Punx Soundcheck and DPPLGNGRS rub shoulders with newer discoveries such as Philmore, JOhn The Baptist, Voodoo Hands, and Skelta. We are eternally grateful to all the artists involved in remixing and producing these 14 outstanding pieces of music. We salute you all.

The other thing that was very important to us in this project was the artwork and presentation. A great deal of thought, and effort was put in to the visual aspect by two people - the immensely talented Dan Harding, a graphic designer of distinction, a Yale graduate, and all round splendid fellow. The other person was the wonderful Michelle Derbyshire, one half of Hottwerk, and the person without whom a) nothing would happen and b) I would be a gibbering wreck trying to chew my own arms off. Huge thankyous also to these two marvels.

So now, the album is out, we have managed to garner considerable support from djs, the press, and even a few blogs - and all that is left is for you to listen, and hopefully enjoy it.......

Hottwerk Records back in the blogosphere...

Well, after a long hiatus from blogging, we're back. We felt it was high time to start telling you what's going on again in the world of Hottwerk Records....

First up, we have just moved into a new office/studio (in a delightful Grade 2 listed building, complete with wonky walls and floors). We're still unpacking and deciding which corner the plastic plant looks best in, but it kind of feels like home already and should be fully operational by the end of next week.

Our other piece of exciting news is that our first ever compilation album Future Imperfect comes out on Monday (the fantastic artwork is above). It's a collection of 14 eclectically splendid tracks, mostly taken from the back catalogue and remixed, plus a few new exclusives, and lovingly presented for your aural delectation.

More on this very soon.....

BLOOD EP NICENESS

A nice review for the Blood EP (even if the translation is quite amusing):

Sam Russo & Tobias Doppelganger - Blood Ep
Electro pumping and rhythmic decided in 'Blood & Prada' Sam Russo & Tobias Doppelganger, this incision, remixed by Mihai Popoviciu, Producer Romanian who has many experiences, given his medical history on labels such as International Deejay Gigolos, Pale Music Berlin, Size Does not Matter, and Vokuhila Level Non Zero. Sempre a 127 bpm anche 'Nightvision', traccia originale del duo, più bongolata, oscura e avvolgente. Still to 127 bpm also 'Nightvision', the original track of the duo, more bongolata, dark and enveloping. Costruita su scansioni maggiormente ipnoidi e scarne, ma infine anche frivole, 'Sayonara', a firma del solo Doppelganger, come pure 'Hello Starlight', nella confluenza d'influssi anche deep house e minimal techno. Built on more ipnoidi scans and limited, but ultimately frivolous, 'Sayonara', a signature of only Doppelganger, as well as' Hello Starlight ', the confluence of influences including deep house and minimal techno. Nel complesso indubbiamente una buona e interessante prova. Overall undoubtedly a good and interesting test. RADIO, RADIO

Well, it's been a big day. First of all, the last 20 minutes of Ben Osborne's Friday evening show on NME Radio was filled with my guest dj mix, here's the tracklisting for anyone who's interested/pedantic enough:
1: Chanty Poe - YesNoMaybe
2: The Faint - The Geeks Were Right (Boys Noize vs DIM Rmx)
3: Sam Russo & Tobias Doppelganger - Blood & Prada (Mihai Popoviciu Rmx)
4: Fake Blood - Blood Splashing
5: Santogold - Creator (Tobias Doppelganger's Reboot Recreation Remix)

And if this wasn't enough, following on from having played tracks from Chanty Poe's debut album (on Hottwerk) 'Yeahh' for the last couple of weeks, Mr. Eddy Temple-Morris played the aforementioned Santogold rerub (by me) on his splendid Remix show on XFM.

World domination by christmas, I say.

Well, it had to happen eventually - Hottwerk has now entered the blog world. Hurrah.
